We'll depart from the Great Sandy Straits Marina out towards Platypus Bay, where the mighty Humpback Whales come to rest and play. Some of the behaviours we'll observe are: breaching, spy-hopping, pec-slapping, tail-slapping and lunges. We usually see our resident bottlenose dolphins playing with their Humpback whale friends too. Cruising alongside the West Coast of K'gari (Fraser Island), we may even be lucky enough to spot a dingo.

The awesome sight of seeing mum and baby whales performing for us with their dives and breeches, the sight of them in full flight mid air was amazing. So late in the season on the 10th October 21 was incredible sighting. The boats captain went in search for us to see this amazing sight and didn't rush to finish when time was tight. Incredibly blessed on the day!

We enjoyed our half day whale watching with Whalesong. We were picked up at our accommodation on time and transport to the Marina, and subsequently delivered back. Not long after setting off coffee and cake was served. There is great commentary on the boat and the staff were very pleasant. Lunch was included in the price and was very generous.
We saw lots of whales but they were quite inactive, most just lying on top of the water. There were a few breaches and tail flaps but not as much as we would be expected. This of course was no fault of the Whalesong operators.
I can thoroughly recommend Whalesong as a whale watching experience.

I did this half day trip with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed it. From when I booked the tickets, to when we finished the tour the service was friendly and efficient. The morning tea and lunch were just what you needed. The food was fresh and healthy. If you required a beer or snack they could be purchased at very reasonable prices.
When we went there were plenty of whales towards the end of the tour. The Captain does his best to keep everyone informed,and does go searching for the whales. The boat is a good size, which in my opinion ensures there is better service.
Would highly recommend this company. Keep up the good work Whalesong.

Excellent from start to finish! From on-time pick up to drop off, this experience was very well orchestrated and delivered. The commentary was good but difficult to hear all over the boat.
We saw only a few whales as it was nearing end of season, but they put on a show for us. Naturally, I didn’t get one good shot! LOL But I have my memories and no one can steal them except for the ‘old timer’.
Staff were friendly and competent. Food well prepared and tasty for limited facilities.

Welcoming crew, beautiful day on the water, saw whales baby and her mum and future boyfriend, they breeched for us and threw their huge fins in the air. Lovely lunch, highly recommend to go with the company whalesong tours.

We had a fantastic afternoon, from pick up at our accommodation, to the promise of seeing whales that was more than fulfilled. The team were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, the meal simple, fresh and well prepared. Watching a pod of 7 whales chase each other around the bay, watching a family pod of mother and calf with a male protector was amazing, the captain took great care to ensure the safety of the whales whilst we enjoyed the fantastic view and commentary. Thank you for a most wonderful afternoon.

Amazed we actually saw a lot of whales being at the end of migrating season. Staff informative and helpful,covid safe and clean. Food and refreshments provided was plentiful. I was in a walking boot after fracturing my ankle and had no problem navigating areas on the boat.
